  • Real estate agents are using AI to automate tasks, often more than doubling productivity.
  • Platforms like HeyGen streamline operations, though privacy concerns remain, especially with AI-generated avatars.
  • Broker Karen Law sees a future where AI will play an even larger role in real estate.

The backstory: AI is making waves in the real estate industry. For Karen Law, a realtor at Century 21 in Toronto, it has proven invaluable for saving time and improving efficiency. Rather than relying solely on traditional methods, Law and her team have embraced AI tools to automate tasks like social media posting and create educational video content. "AI has been particularly beneficial in improving efficiency and saving our team time," Law said. "With the right AI tools, tasks are completed significantly faster than if done manually, often cutting the time needed by more than 70%."

How it works: Law’s team is experimenting with AI-generated videos through HeyGen, which allows agents to create studio-quality content using avatars that closely resemble the individual. While the tool offers a unique way to engage clients, Law is mindful of the data privacy and security concerns it raises.

Following the trend: Law’s use of AI tools is part of a larger trend reshaping the real estate industry. AI is increasingly used to automate tasks, enhance predictive analytics, and streamline processes that once took significant time and effort. According to a 2023 McKinsey & Co. report, AI can reduce administrative tasks by more than 40%, giving agents more time to focus on client relationships and personalized services.

Looking ahead: The future of real estate will see even greater integration of AI, said Law. "Virtual Reality could be used to create immersive property tours, encouraging out-of-town buyers to purchase sight unseen,” she said. “AI can also enhance predictive analytics, offering more accurate forecasts of market trends and property values."
